Volunteering for Music on Main
Putting on an event for 3,000 people a night takes a lot of work, and we have four volunteer areas to staff this year at each Music on Main event.
Descriptions of available positions:
Set-Up/ Clean-Up
Hardly the most glamorous, but one of the most important responsibilities of each night, the set-up/ clean-up team will make sure that we get fencing, banners, tables, and tents set up for each night. They will also take down fencing, banners, tables, and tents at the end of each night. Finally, set-up/clean-up volunteers make sure that we leave the park as we found it every night – a CRITICAL job to ensure that we continue to be welcome in our Victor City Park site. The Set-up/Clean-up team will work under the direction of the Set-up/Clean-up Volunteer Coordinator.
Set-up volunteers arrive at the park at noon and work until about 2pm.
Clean-up volunteers get to work around when the music ends, usually around 9:30 or 10pm.
Concessions - Beer/ Wine/ Merchandise
These folks serve beer and wine, check IDs, sell merchandise, and collect money. Volunteers in this position must be over 21, organized, and comfortable with fast-paced work. They are responsible for setting up the concessions areas, and cleaning them up at the end of each event. The Concessions team will work under the direction of the Concessions Volunteer Coordinator.
Concessions volunteers must arrive at the park at 4:30pm for set-up and briefing. They should expect to work throughout the show. If enough volunteers sign up, we may be able to arrange shifts. They will finish their work around 10:30 each night.
Runner/ Utility Player
At TVF, we do our best to be as organized as possible, but even we forget a thing or two from time to time. The Runner/UP’s are around to help out when last minute needs arise. This may require driving within the area to pick something up, helping one of the other volunteer areas, or being available for random needs anywhere at the event. Runner/UP’s must have a valid driver’s license, and a vehicle they may use if needed. The Runner/UP team will work under the direction of the Primary Event Coordinator.
Runner/UP volunteers must arrive at the park around 5pm for set-up, and they are generally free for the majority of the show. They should plan on checking in with the Primary Event Coordinator throughout the event to find out if their assistance is needed. They will generally be free to leave at the end of the show 10pm, though this may change depending on needs.
Entry
In order to get accurate counts of Music on Main attendance, we need a stellar entrance team. Entry and START Bus volunteers will be responsible for taking data on attendees, collecting donations, managing our Driggs/Victor START Bus promotion, and setting-up and cleaning-up the entrance area. The Entry and START Bus team will work under the direction of the Entry Volunteer Coordinator.
Entry volunteers must arrive at the park around 5pm for set-up. They should expect to be working hard from 6pm to about 8pm, at which time entries will slow down. The entry crew will work until about 9pm, at which time they will clean-up the entry area.
START Bus volunteers will begin their work in Driggs. They will be managing START promotion supplies, and meeting the START Bus in Driggs at 6pm. They will manage the START bus promotion and fare collection on the first and second START Bus from Alta/Driggs. Their work will be done by 7:30 or 8pm.
